2010 Exmouth Devon
In late June 2010 Leek Wootton visited the Devon Cliffs resort near Exmouth in Devon and had a great weekend in the sunshine. It was a change in strategy this year as the club decided to have a simple weekend away without any football, however there was the World Cup going on so there was plenty of football to watch on TV.
Once again over 20 lads & parents went this year and there was plenty of fun on the beach, in the pool, on the golf course and unfortunately in the arcade that swallowed up quite a bit of the lad’s cash. Meanwhile the Mum’s & Dad’s had a few quiet beers and took in the club entertainment - that took quite a bit of their cash!
A Saturday evening BBQ on the beach was good fun until the temperature turned after sunset and then it was a quick dash to the camp complex however the great weekend was somewhat tarnished by a rather inept England display against Germany that everyone watched on the big screen – a great World Cup atmosphere but a Sunday league limp performance – even Leek Wootton don’t make those defensive errors!
