2007/8 Under 11's

As the team moved into the larger 11 a-side format there were major changes in personnel with many new players joining the team over the summer of 2007 and only Paul, Jacob, Frankie, Callum and Blake remained from that first game at Alcester just two seasons previous. Despite the changes the team continued to go from strength to strength and the first season at the larger format was the most successful in the teams’ short history. The Colts finished the season in a very creditable 3rd place with 42 points their best ever performance with defeats incurred only against the top two teams. The spring time defeat of Southam United Dynamoes by 12-1 was a new Colts record and the Colts finished the season off in winning style with their very first piece of silverware as they won the Leamington Brakes tournament beating Southam United Vipers in the final. A key factor in this improved performance was the introduction of Johnny who smashed the goal scoring record with 69 goals. It was enough to gain him the Player of the Year award and he became the first Colts player to be invited to a professional club when he spent a few months training with Coventry City. It was far from a one man team however and there were regular good performances from Frankie (who was again awarded the Managers Award), Ollie and Dan throughout the year and in general all the players improved significantly.

The Colts finished the 2007/8 season with their second tour and what a great event it was as 33 Lads & Dad’s visited Tenby in Pembrokeshire for a fantastic weekend of fun where the sun shone consistently and the great beach party on the Saturday evening will long live in the memory.
