Colts Secure Another Win on their Travels
Monday 5th November 2007
The Colts secured their fourth win on the road this season as they hit 6 without reply against a tough Southam side who belied their position in the League with a gutsy and tough display that made sure that the Colts had to be at their best to take the points.
Local lad Johnnie was closely marked but pounced on a lose ball to open the scoring and went on to grab his third hat trick in his short Colts career. Ollie was always looking dangerous on the right and he hit a couple to make it 5 goals in two games and a first Colts goal from our other Southam based lad Tyler ensured the win. Despite all of the goal action it was a defender who took the man of the match award; Jake controlling the defence in his sweeping role.

Falcons hit for Five
Monday 5th November 2007
Despite a bright start and the opening goal scored by Callum it was visitors Leamington Hibs who took the honours in the Falcons match on Saturday morning with a convincing 5-1 victory, a few defensive errors assisting them on their way.
Making his managerial debut Justin ringed the changes during the game and top marks for the unorthodox and original formation of having a team without any midfield - watch out Steve McClaren!
Kris took the man of the match award for an industrious display on the wing and for keeping his smile going throughout the game - well done Kris.

Colts Christmas Party
Thursday 8th November 2007
The Colts 2007 Christmas Party will take place on Saturday 15th December. As in previous years we have decided to have an activity event which this year will be a rock climbing party at Warwick University. The University has a top class indoor climbing range good enough to hold the National Indoor climbing championship so we are sure it will be challenging enough for our lads. Qualified instructors will be present although in order to maximise the climbing opportunities for the lads we will need five Dads to help out so please let Debs know if you can assist on the morning. All safety equipment will be provided.
The climbing activity will take place in the morning and a party will follow at the Clubhouse at lunch time and you never know some chap with a red suit & a white beard might just pop in to say hello.
Further details will be advised nearer the time but for now please put this date into you diary and we look forward to seeing all of the boys have a bit of fun off the football pitch for once.

Stretton visit the Wardens on Sunday
Friday 9th November 2007
Our old friends Stretton Athletic visit the Wardens this Sunday in only the second home match of the season for the Colts. Stretton opened the season with a win against Southam United but since then have failed to secure another point but were unlucky to only go down by two goals at second place Norton Lindsey last week and the Colts are sure to have a tough match. Elsewhere in the League there are some interesting fixtures as Balsall & Berkswell entertain Woodford, a repeat of last weeks cup match which the Hornets won and Henley Forest return to League action with a match at Norton Lindsey. Leaders Central Ajax play Banbury Irish but perhaps the most interesting game of the day is between the two teams at the bottom of the division as Lillington play host to Southam; Lillington earned their first point of the season last week at Banbury Irish but a win for Southam would move the Saints off the foot of the table.
In Division 1 the two Tazmanian Cruisers teams meet for the first time this season but the top match is second place Wellesbourne entertaining Kenilworth Town. All results and the updated table will be on the site on Monday morning.
There is no Falcons match this weekend.

Colts break Stretton home duck
Monday 12th November 2007
At the fourth time of trying the Colts at last got a home win against Stretton Athletic with a 5-2 victory as a result of some prolonged pressure and good finishing.
The Colts started brightly and had the ball in the Stretton net twice in the first 10 minutes but both were chalked off for offside but the lads continued to push and Ollie finished well from the right hand side of the box to give them the lead they deserved.
However the Colts were getting frustrated with the offside game of the visitors and it led to them losing the initiative a little as Stretton had a spell of pressure towards the end of the half. From one of their corners the ball was only partially cleared when a Stretton defender shot from outside the box and despite the efforts of JP the ball went into the goal off the crossbar and the half finished level.
The Colts started the second half like they did the first and man of the match Paul set up their second goal playing a lovely ball into Johnny who stroked the ball past the advancing keeper. The Colts top scorer then added another shortly after with a good finish from a corner after the Stretton defence hesitated but the Colts did not ease off and continued to press home their pressure. Callum cut in from the right and blasted home with a powerful shot and Frankie added a fifth with a great left foot shot. However the Colts hard work was spoiled somewhat when they switched off at the back in the last few minutes which allowed the visitors a second goal but overall a good performance from the lads.

Falcons Match next Saturday
Monday 12th November 2007
A game for the Falcons has been arranged for next Saturday when Balsall & Berkswell Under 10's visit the Wardens for an 11:45 kick off. The Hornets Under 10's team are doing well in Division 1 this year and despite the age difference this should be a tough game for the Falcons.

Colts visit Table Toppers on Sunday
Friday 16th November 2007
The Colts take their recent good form to table topping Norton Lindsey on Sunday in what is sure to be a tight game. Both teams are having a good season with Norton Lindsey losing only once and the Colts only twice thus far. A win for the Colts will see the gap between the two clubs limited to just 3 points and with the Colts having played one game less the difference between the two teams is minimal.
The first time the two teams met was in the Cup at Under 9 level and the close nature of that game has followed in every match between the teams since. In that first game Norton Lindsey won 1-0 with an extra time goal and two further 1 goal victories followed for Norton Lindsey that first season. Since then however the two teams have been ever closer and of the eight games played between the two teams 4 have ended in draws with a 1-0 tournament victory being the only time the Colts have managed to get a victory.
Of the other games in Division 2 this Sunday Central Ajax make the long journey to Woodford with Balsall & Berkswell also having a long trip to Banbury Irish, Southam entertain Stretton and Henley Forest welcome Lillington.
In Division 1 the match of the day is the meeting of the two teams with a 100% record as Alveston play host to Wellesbourne.
Finally let's not forget the Falcons who have another match on Saturday as they entertain Balsall & Berkswell Under 10's in a friendly game. The Hornets are having a good season so far at this age group and won 4-1 last week at Woodloes so the Falcons can expect a tough match.

Seventh Heaven for Colts
Monday 19th November 2007
The Colts continued their recent good form with a convincing 7-3 victory at table topping Norton Lindsey on Sunday in some atrocious conditions as winter hit Warwickshire for the first time this season. Despite the weather the Colts managed to get their passing game going with high tempo as they hit the home team with a series of fast attacks that secured an early two goal lead thanks to a brace from Ollie. Further goals from Johnny & Harry made for a convincing half time lead of 4-1 with the home side getting a goal midway through the half but the Colts were well worth their lead as they dominated the first period.
Norton Lindsey came back strongly in the second half and scored early and a series of tit-for-tat scoring continued in the second period with Ollie getting his hat trick goal following a good run by Blake and a second goal for top-scorer Johnny. The home side were continuing to push hard but the Colts finished off a great win when Connor hit their seventh and final goal in the last five minutes.
Despite the usual glory by the front runners special praise should also go to the defence who played extremely well. Frankie was moved to centre half for this game and kept things very tight with Jake sweeping well behind him and two fantastic performances from Dan & Clark at full backs, with Clark just pipping Dan for the Man of the Match award.
Despite the victory the Colts remain in 4th place but it makes things extremely tight at the top of the table and next weeks game against Balsall & Berkswell is now extremely important; a win could see the Colts move to 2nd in the table.
Finally apologies to the lads but due to the very bad weather there will be no photos of the game for the site.

Falcons Hit for Five
Monday 19th November 2007
The Falcons huffed and puffed on Saturday but unfortunately their efforts came to nothing as they were beaten 5-0 by a slick Balsall & Berkswell Under 10's who belied their age and played some very good passing football. Two last minute goals spoiled the score line somewhat as the second half was a much better performance by the Falcons and was goalless until that last minute. Despite the score it was a good run-out for the lads, and congratulations to the Hornets on the quality of their football. Johannes received his second Falcons man of the match award for the season.

Colts in another Table Top Clash on Sunday
Friday 23rd November 2007
Following last weeks tough game against Norton Lindsey the lads have another very hard match on Sunday when they entertain local rivals Balsall & Berkswell.
The two teams have already met this season when the Hornets rushed into an early 3-0 lead. Goals from Callum, Frankie & Harry brought the Colts back into the game but the home side added another and just about deserved the points with a 4-3 win. Since then both teams have won every game they have played and with both on such good runs of form the match is eagerly anticipated.
In the past the Hornets have had slightly the better of things with two wins to the Colts solitary victory, a 2-1 home win at Under 9’s with one match, a friendly ending in a 1-1 draw
Of the other games in Division 2 this Sunday Central Ajax play host to Woodford who they played last week winning 5-3, but the Daventry based team were leading 3-1 moving into the final quarter of the match and will no doubt be hoping to get a result this week. Norton Lindsey visit Lillington, Stretton entertain Henley Forest and Southam will hope to break their duck with a home match against Banbury Irish.
In Division 1 the match of the day is the game between Kenilworth Town and Fenney Compton; the third time they will have played this season with one victory each so far.

Hornets Sting the Colts in last Quarter
Monday 26th November 2007
Promotion rivals Balsall & Berkswell ran out convincing winners in Sundays match at the Wardens but for long periods the game was very much in the balance.
The first half was exciting end to end action with both sides hitting the woodwork but the Colts managed to break the deadlock when Johnny deflected home Blake’s strong shot from outside the box. The Colts tried to add to their lead and had a number of chances but the visitors were also looking dangerous and JP kept his goal in tact with some brave keeping, however with virtually the last kick of the half they equalised with a shot from distance.
The second half was very much like the first with end to end action but midway through the visitors scored from a corner and with Frankie being moved forward to try and grab an equaliser the defence was put under more pressure and the Hornets added 4 late goals to run out convincing winners. Although the visitors deserved the win for their late rally the score was a tough call for the lads for their all round effort. Blake won the man of the match award for a hard working all round display but there were also good performances from Callum & Frankie.

Colts hope to get back to winning ways
Friday 30th November 2007
With last weeks final quarter nightmare still in the mind the Colts will hope to get back to winning ways this Sunday when they entertain Woodford Utd. The Colts have an excellent record against the Northamptonshire based club including a 4-3 opening fixture success back in September. As the score suggests the game was very tight and was somewhat influenced by a very strong wind that day that assisted the Colts in rushing into a 3-0 interval lead only for the home side to equalise in the second half when they had the wind in their favour. Thankfully a winner from Johnny in the last five minutes secured the points. The only other two occasions that the teams have met was last year which again produced two very tight games with the Colts just edging out Woodford 2-1 at home and then 3-1 at Woodford on a cold January morning when Lennie secured the points with a spectacular long distance volley direct from a Woodford goal kick, arguably our goal of the season.
This term Woodford have improved from last years struggles and currently lie in mid-table but they have played many of the top teams of late and with a kinder fixture list coming up they could start to push up the table. They were unlucky in their recent home match with run-away leaders Central Ajax where they led 3-1 in the second half only for the leaders to claw their way back and eventually win 5-3; disappointing in the end but the team can take credit in being the closest to take anything from Central Ajax thus far. So a tough game in store for the lads but we hope that an improved performance from the Colts will banish last weeks disappointment once and for all.
